dare to do something new
relationships, not resolutions
instead of making resolutions, which rarely last, make something that does: friends for Life.
as a new year begins, we all want to commit to tasks and goals and systems. but what actually carries us through life are the people around us — the ones we love, the ones who dare to love and encourage us in return.
over the past six weeks, we read “the darkness rolled over her” together, a story about the incredible importance of encouraging people. if you followed along with us, you already know it’s a story meant for more than just reading; it’s meant to be talked about.
Five Coffees and a Book
starting january 14, i’ll be leading us through Five Coffees and a Book with these wednesday posts. it lasts five weeks, about an hour a week. you’ll sit down over coffee or tea for face-to-face conversation with people you already know and love. and don’t worry, it’s all free.
next week, january 7, i’ll share the details of how it works and how to get a group together. you’ll be surprised by how easy it is. you’ll be in wonder at how it elevates your friendships to a level you never knew was possible.
tonight, as you look ahead at the year to come, don’t make a list of things to fix.
instead, make a short list of people you want to encourage, people who will encourage you in return.
who do you see yourself sitting across from? who can you invite to coffee, and an honest conversation? write down a few names. keep them. pray about it. and we’ll take the next step together soon.
Godspeed.
